Jane Dilworth & Associates considers the design and construction process a journey of mutual collaboration, one that enables both the client and our team to reach a common vision. From the initial consultation, to the discussion, review and presentation of the design, to the finished installation, the result is a landscape that will be enjoyed for years to come.

Jane or one of our designers will meet with the client at their property for approximately one hour for an in-depth discussion of the property. The discussion will include:

  • Client Concerns (Drainage, Maintenance, Screening Unattractive Views)
  • Ideas to enhance the existing landscape
  • Suggestions to improve the appearance of both home and garden
  • Plantings
  • Hardscapes (Patios, Walkways, Retaining Walls)
  • 4 Seasons of Interest
  • Focal Points
  • Outdoor Living Rooms
  • Children’s Gardens
  • Details (Garden Ornaments, Containers, Lighting)

At the conclusion of the meeting the Client will be given a New Client Questionnaire and a Contract for Landscape Design. The return of the completed Questionnaire, Design Contract, Plat of Survey and deposit will allow the Design phase to begin.

One of our designers will visit the site to take measurements, survey existing plants/trees and other materials that will remain as part of the design. The information obtained during the site visit along with feedback from the consultation and the completed questionnaire allow the development of an initial design.

The design and any options will be reviewed with the client. Any changes or additions can be made.

Upon our receipt of the signed proposal and deposit, the client will be added to our installation schedule. We will discuss the need for permits as well as the coordination of any additional services, such as lighting and irrigation. The project coordinator and crews work with the designer to make sure the vision on the drawing is brought to life.
